WHO’S WHO AMONG THE GUESTS & ATTENDING PROFESSIONALS GOING TO PUERTO RICO COMIC CON 2014

 

I now share with you my information guide for the guests that so far are coming to this year’s Puerto Rico Comic Con. This list does not include the local talent that is also coming to this event. The Puerto Rico Comic Con is the premier entertainment event in Puerto Rico. A two day show with exhibitors and retailers of what we geeks love: Comics, Toys, Anime, Manga, Video games, Strategic and Card games, Movies, etc. This is the biggest comic convention in the Caribbean and will take place at The Puerto Rico Convention Center in city of San Juan on May 24-25, 2014.

Michael Rooker: an American actor, he is best known for his roles as Henry in HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER, Merle Dixon in THE WALKING DEAD, Frank Bailey in MISSISSIPPI BURNING, Hal Tucker in CLIFFHANGER, Jared Svenning in MALLRATS and Rowdy Burns in DAYS OF THUNDER. In the coming months he is sure to gain more notoriety due to the release of the superhero film, GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY which is based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. In this movie Rooker plays the role of Yondu Udonta.

Maximiliano Hernández: a native of Brooklyn, New York, he is well known for his portrayal of agent Jasper Sitwell, a character who has made appearances in THOR (2011), THE AVENGERS (2012), CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER (2014). This character also appears in the short films THE CONSULTANT, ITEM 47 and in the 1st season of the televised series MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Scott Snyder: a multiple award-winning and bestselling American writer known for his 2006 short story collection Voodoo Heart, and his work in comic books, including VOODOO HEART, AND HIS WORK IN COMIC BOOKS, INCLUDING AMERICAN VAMPIRE, DETECTIVE COMICS, BATMAN, BATMAN: GATES OF GOTHAM AND SWAMP THING.

Steve Blum: an American voice actor of anime and video games known for his distinctive deep voice. Among his credits include the voice of Spike Spiegel in the anime show COWBOY BEBOP and Mugen in SAMURAI CHAMPLOO. He voiced Roger Smith from THE BIG O, Orochimaru, Zabuza, Ōnoki and Ao in the NARUTO anime, X-Men’s Wolverine in numerous games, as well as in the animated series WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN, the animated movie HULK VS. He also used his talents THE SUPER HERO SQUAD SHOW and MARVEL ANIME: X-MEN.

Lymary Millot: an international Make-up Artist and Instructor of: Face/Body paint, Beauty, Airbrush, Special FX, and Character Make-up Design for Film-TV-Theater. As featured Artist by Mehron, Lyma’s work has been published in Make-up Artist Magazine, Ilussion Magazine and Brushstrokes.

Juan Salgado: an International Award Winning Tattoo and Mural Artist. His creations have taken him all around the United States; he has won an enormous following. Students, enthusiasts and other artists from around the world have been citing his work as mayor inspirations.

Nix Herrera: an award-winning body painter Nicholas “Nix” Herrera got his start doing body painting and airbrush tattoos in Orlando FL. His perfectionism led him to body paint for numerous celebrities’ parties including some at the Playboy mansion. His work has appeared in Rolling Stone, Playboy, Fangoria, Makeup Mag, and Wizard Comics.

Riki Lecotey (Riddle’s Messy Wardrobe): she is a native of Canada who moved to the United States to help further her costuming skills. It was a success, because she has gotten the opportunity to work on films in the specialty costuming department. She has been involved in costuming for over 14 years and is internationally recognized and respected, in and outside the cosplay community for her ability to translate costumes and focus on craftsmanship. She’s been invited to many conventions around the world, to judge costume contests, host workshops, and promote cosplay as a rewarding art form.

Lindze A’la Mode: a native of San Diego, California and a current resident of Atlanta (probably the cosplay capital of the USA), Lindze is a veteran of this hobby with an illustrious career that expands for about 14 years. Her cosplay choices show a predilection for video games but she doesn’t shy away from others genres of entertainment show significant achievements with costumes based comic books and anime to name a few areas.

Ryan Benjamin: a comic book artist who comes all the way from the tropical islands of St. Croix, and has built his fan base as an artist at WildStorm Studios working alongside some of the greatest in the business. Most recently, he’s been doing animation and 3-D work for the video game industry.  His latest comic book work can be seen in the pages of “BATMAN BEYOND”, “DEAD ROMEO” and “BATMAN/OUTSIDERS”, “BATMAN” and “DETECTIVE COMICS”, all for DC Comics. For many years Ryan worked as a member of popular Wildstorm Comics Team penciling several titles including “GRIFTER MIDNIGHTER”, “WILDC.A.T.S.”, “VAGABOND” and “PHANTOM GUARD”.  Ryan had a nice run on “IRON MAN” for Marvel comics, and he  also did some fantastic work for several independent  publishers including Dark Horse Comics and Aklaim Comics, penciling such titles as, “STAR WARS: INFINITIES – RETURN OF THE JEDI” , “GHOST” and “SHADOWMAN”.

Ulises Farinas: he is a Portland based illustrator, cartoonist and writer who meticulously blends genres, styles, and universes. Breaking down the walls between imagination and reality, he depicts super-saturated, hyper-detailed worlds where heroes and monsters are as fantastic as the landscapes they inhabit. He is the artist and cowriter, of GAMMA, a one-shot comic previously serialized in Dark Horse Presents, and the writer of the pulp-throwback anthology AMAZING FOREST He also is drawing Catalyst – Agents of Change, written by Joe Casey, and JUDGE DREDD: CITY OF COURTS written by Douglas Wolk. He was the artist on the miniseries TRANSFORMERS: HEART OF DARKNESS, written by Dan Abnett & Andy Lanning and published by IDW.

Jenai Chin: JENAI CHIN is a New York based body artist with over 12 years of experience which has led to a successful career in fashion, television, film and theater. She began her journey into body art while she earned her Bachelors of Fine Art degree from the acclaimed School of Visual Arts in New York City. Jenai continues her devotion to further progress her skills and passion in makeup with a venture into the world of tattoo art application. Jenai is influenced by the urban settings of New York City, tattoo history, graphic design and fashion. Her inspirations and experience has made her a one of a kind artist sought after for her talent as an expert designer of temporary tattoos and makeup art. Jenai Chin’s work has appeared in editorials such as Interview, Black Book, New York and Oprah magazine. Her talents have also been requested to work with celebrities such as Beyoncé, Chase Crawford and Debbie Harry.

Tim Clark: a New York City based artist, notable for his rendition of the Iron Giant.

Steve Cardenas: an American martial artist and former actor, perhaps most noted for playing Rocky DeSantos in the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers TV series.

Anthony Guajardo: an actor who portrays Miguel in The Walking Dead.

Paris Themmen: an American actor, commercial casting director and entrepreneur. Themmen appeared in radio and TV commercials, voice-overs and theater before playing the role of Mike Teevee in the 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, when he was 11 years old.
